Flash diffusers...

Is there any significant difference with the diffusers on eBay vs. the bee's knees 'Stofen' diffusers?

So, I was looking at this one or this one.

Yes.....about 12 quid :lol:

At the end of the day it's just a bit of plastic - I use the £2.99 ones from Etefore

Stupid question = Stupid answer.... doh!

... and to think I'm an economist and didn't spot that one coming :bonk:

But yes, I don't feel drawn to spend £15 on a piece of semi-opaque plastic, I just wanted to check there are no quality issues... but again plastic is plastic right?

A bit of tupperware from Tesco would probably do the same job, in fact I should buy one of those 3-for-75p sets and try it for a laugh..

Indeed, but i'm more concerned that it fits snugly on my 430EX II

I've had no problems with the £2.99 diffusers regarding fit on the SB-600 or SB-25, so I'd imagine the Canon versions will be much of a much.

I've got a 430 EX II and bought a cheapo diffuser from ebay that fits brilliantly.

I have heard some people say that the cheap flash diffusers affect white balance.

Erm, no, they don't.

At first I used to use the bottom of a plastic (empty)milk carton over the flash to see what the difference was. Fine for emergencies and experimentation. I now have a stofen.
