Yes
I'm making my first forays into weddings soon, and I've often seen flash brackets being used for this type of work.

I've done a bit of googling, but opinions seem to vary on their usefulness / practicality!

Does anyone here use them, and is it worth investing in one?

I've tried looking for examples online, but can't find many, so if anyone has any I'd love to see some!

Yes, no, awkward to use and hold.

It's mainly because I'm lead to believe that they make life easier when using a flash in a fast paced situation, especially where there is little, or no option to bounce the light.

I could be wrong though!

Where there's little or no option to bounce the light, the best option is to try harder to find something to bounce the light off.

Brackets were popular back when bouncing flash was a bit 'new fangled', I used one for a while, but it was cumbersome and unwieldy.

Their actual use is to keep the flash above the lens in portrait mode as it is in landscape mode which helps with shadows even when the flash is bounced off a ceiling. However a better answer with modern cameras is to shoot landscape and crop.

Spend the money on some wireless triggers instead, much more useful all round.

If you're going to get one, get a good one. Cheap brackets that can't properly deal with the weight of your flashgun can be troublesome to use, but there's no doubt a good bracket will give you better lighting (and a lot more range than bouncing).

I got a stroboframe one a few years ago and find it good for outdoors such as red-carpet type events. Would probably work equally well for weddings.

Don't forget you'll also need a short ettl cable to connect the flash to the camera.

Hi, I use one all the time for weddings/social work. As the last person said if your going to use one it's essential to get a really good sturdy one.

A good one can also provide you with an additional grip/support for your handheld camera. Works for me.

Hope this helps.
