Can anyone advise me on the subject of flash brackets please? I'm looking for something (not too expensive) that can be switched rapidly between Landscape and Portrait orientations, with the flash staying above the camera in each case. I know about the Wimberley solution, and it does exactly what I want, but I can't justify spending that kind of money on it at this stage.

Many thanks,

Chris

have you looked at demb flash bracket? i use it. i like it. not a magic product, but works in many situations.

I hadn't seen that one, thanks. Does anyone in the UK supply them? I can't find any.

Thanks everyone for the advice :). The Custom Brackets solution looks closest to what I'm looking for, but I like the Lumiquest idea too. Some thinking required, it seems...

Cheers, Chris.

I have 3 of the following brackets. Far cheaper than anything else and they work very well. Adjustable for gripped or non-gripped body. On two of them I have removed the top clamp and fixed the flash lead directly to the bracket. Mine get a lot of use and have never had a problem. I dropped a camera (a guest at a wedding managed to knock it off a table) with one of these attached and the bracket saved the day. Slightly bent bracket but lens and camera ok. The lens would have taken the impact without the bracket.

For £15 it is worth trying it but I don't think you will be disappointed. Delivery was very quick, less than a week from recollection.

edit: just followed Tims link and it looks like we share the same view. Functional, cheap, well made, looks the part and cheap. I know I said it is cheap twice but it is and you will not get anything close for the same money. The adapter brackets (needed for different camera bodies) on some of the more expensive options cost twice as much as this alone.
