Flash + Baby?

I know I should use natural light but if it is too dark could I use bounced/diffused flash without freaking a 9 week old baby out too much?

...or is it a real nono? :nono:

itll be the power of the flash at a guess, so 1/1 too much, 1/128 is pretty weak really

It only really depends on how bright the ambient is - get the room as bright as you can with curtains open and all lights on and the wee one won't notice the flash at pretty much any power

If the room is dark the flash will be FAR more obvious at any power too

Thanks for that Dave. Natural light with the curtains open gave me 1/30s so had to use the flash.

Baby not bothered at all!

Good to know. Will see how the near 5 month old reacts later today if I can. I'm sure his reaction will be a bit worse though given he is a bit more aware.

A baby may freak out, but will probably calm down once it realises it doesnt hurt.

How about making a game out it? Introduce the flash first and go once comfortable.....
