Hi guys, hope you are all well.

I am after a book that will help me learn everything I need to learn about lighting - outdoor, off camera, and studio. So basically a very good book on lighting.

I have searched the wealth of books on tinternet, but would really appreciate non biased sales reviews......

Any suggestions???

Thanks.

Light: Science & Magic. (3rd edition)
It explains the principles of lighting in just about all situations. It's basically a cookbook that you can use with all types of lighting.

Thanks for that Garry. I had been looking at that, but you know what its like. You become overwhelmed by the choice.

Thanks again.

No, except that I have 3 and haven't seen 4

Thanks guys for the advice. They both sound great, wouldnt mind them both but a little bit pricey for 2 books.

Hi Mike, I was wondering the same meself today, I came across the 4th edition but dont know if there is much difference.

Im after starting right from the begining of learning about light. I do know a bit, maybe the 4th edition is a modern take on light.

Thanks

Alan,

it will be a slight update. Garry knows his lighting and if he recommends that book then you can be sure that it is worth having and I have seen Garry recommend it before. I will put it another way, I am relatively happy with my lighting skills but not a master so I have been known to phone Garry to ask a question or 2.

Mike
