I now have a 180w stable imaging strobe bought from Darren (Cowasaki) thats wired to my camera via the front connector on the camera, I also have my SB900, I have been tinkering about so they both flash and for love nor money can I get both to flash could anyone please let me know how I get the sb900 to fire for the background on a portrait as well as the strobe into the umbrella tethered to the camera to flash all at the same time pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Put the SB900 into SU-4 mode, so it is triggered optically when the SI fires and you'll be good to go.

ERmmmmmmmmmmmm

I have the sb900 in front of me now, its seleted as ON not remote or master, when I press mode it comes up with the following.
M 1/1
RPT 1/64
TTL
A
GN

but no SU-4 sorry if I am being a numpty

I got into su-4 mode I found that out in the manual, still it didnt fire the sb900 when I set SI off. Do I have to alter the settings in my camera menu like I do when I want the sb900 off camera remote using cmdr mode.

SU-4 is just a dumb optical slave, so as long as the sensor on the side ofthe 900 can see the flash from the studio lights then it should trigger...

wooohoooo just had Mrs W bring the SI and lead and sb900 had the bedroom flashing , I hope no one was watching the flash, they will be wondering what we are doing in the bedroom:thinking:. Did the SU-4 stuck it on remote and as soon as the sensor picked up the flash off it went.

[S1]Thank Yeee kind squire[/S1]

I would recomend you keep those shots in your private collection, unless you fancy a big fight with the mrs!
