Flash AA Battries

I use 7day's own brand 2900 in my 580 woth no problem and also have 7day's rapid charger, takes about 15 minutes to charge them ;)

They also do their own Good to Go Eneloop equivalent, which are a bit cheaper. The only problem with them is that they tend not to be, err... good to go and need charging before first use.

For the sake of a couple of quid a pack I'd go for the Sanyos....

Thanks guys, ordered and job done! Just need a charger now do these vary much at all or is a charger a charger?

I use a couple of Uniross 15 minute chargers, they'll probably shorten the life of the batteries, but in the regular one (that came with another set of 2700mAh) the charge time was 19 hours

Rito I get the idea longer charge = better less damaging charge, short charge = nice and quick roasts the balls of the little fellas . I'll see if anyone has a spare charger of any kind kicking around unwanted.

Thanks again guys

I use an Energizer Ni-Mh charger for my Eneloops. Just make sure the charger you get is made to charge Ni-Mh batteries.

Having a couple of sets of eneloops are brilliant for having a set always ready to go.:)

:plusone: I did the same

switched to eneloops after my initial batch of energizers not holding their charges.

I am not impressed at all with the fameart charger :shake:

The batteries get very hot and it seems to take forever. I have since found out that you should unplug it after 6 hours with the eneloops. I wanted something that will not overcharge and treat the batteries with a bit of TLC.

I took delivery of a technoline BL700 this morning. I have the first of many sets in it being conditioned. Hopefully this will address any issues I've had such as supposedly charged cells being flat when I come to use them.

Thanks for that, I think I will keep that link looks a nice bit of harware but little more than I wanna spend this month.

I use 7dayshop.com branded 2900mAh in GP Power Bank Express charger (15-20 minutes per 4 batteries!) - no problems.

BUY THIS ONE............."link"

Thats the one I have after reading very positive reviews about it.

It currently has a set of 7 day shop ready to go (eneloop equivalent) batteries in it. Been running for around 13 hours now. 1 cell is full but the other 3 are still discharging (on test cycle) That seems to prove that the fameart charger is pretty useless at keeping them charged properly. The fameart is the only charger i've used with them from new.

I have 6 sets of eneloops and 2 sets of 7 day shop batteries to do. I am going to put all of them on a refresh cycle so reckon in about 3 weeks all will be working properly.

Not a fast charger by any means but very effective. It monitors each cell individually and charges it accordingly. Well worth the extra on a cheaper charger in my opinion.

Iirc the one I had that melted () whilst charging was a Fameart, not the same model but......

I got a couple of the fameart ones virtually for free from 7day shop but then bought a BC-900. I thought I would use all three and just make sure that the BC-900 was used occasionally for reconditioning BUT I found that the fameart ones were rubbish and basically I only use the BC-900 now.

The BC-900 chargers are superb and it even tells you how much charge they can potentially provide etc. Having 4 separate channels means that it can identify single faulty batteries etc which the fameart and similar chargers cannot do.

I use this charger

It takes a while to charge, but is a good deal with 4 eneloops included

I got the fameart ones with mine, they got so hot they had me worried and there's no way they're going in my guns that damn hot.
I will be outing them for new ones asap, but IMHO those chargers aren't safe.

I've got an Ansmann Energy 4 (original version - not the new 'speed' one). Recommended it to a few others too. One of theirs broke but Ansmann replaced it, complete with a new set of batteries for the trouble. That, combined with a couple of sets of Eneloops and I shouldn't need to buy any more for a while.

These 15-minute rapid charges don't sit well with me. You have to 'force' an enormous amount of charge into the batteries to get that to work, and that inevitably ends up cooking the batteries (and shortening their lifespan). Who is so desperate that they need a set of batteries within 15 minutes? Just get a spare set! :)

Just got my first Eneloops (from 7dayshop) for my new flash, although the cases were both destroyed in shipping. Fair play to 7DS though, as they are sending replacements FOC.

As per the above, I need a charger for them, and whilst I'd love to spend £28 on the BL700, this seems excessive for the relatively little use my photographic needs will put on them.

In which case, how does this 7DS-own version differ, apart from being 1/3 of the price: http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=777_3&products_id=105028

It can discharge/charge the batteries, shows charge levels (admittedly to a lesser degree), takes odd numbers of batteries if necessary...I'll be trying to keep my sets as sets of 4, so not sure whether the £20 extra for the BL700 will be on bells and whistles I won't be using.

Hmmm....

I haven't used one Keri but at that price it seems excellent value for money. It has some good reviews on the internet as well. Chances are, if I had seen it before I wouldn't have bought my BL700.

Go for it.

Keri,

That the very same charger a forum member has just sold me 2nd hand so I will let you know what I think when I get it if you like.

That's the one I have too although I think my earlier link may have been for the newer version

Never found anything better and totally agree about the need for speed, can't see that doing the batteries any good whatsoever

@ Daddy Day Care & Donki - thanks both! :)
