Just tried to ise my Nikon SB600 flash and it's not working. Went to replace batteries and the old ones seem to have leaked/corroded inside the unit.

And now with new batteries and clean out it's no longer working.

Can anyone recommend a repairer, or is this one of those times that its not cost effective to repair?

I imagine the only way it would be cost effective to repair is if you have a go yourself as its currently a dead unit anyway and theres likely to be a cost to just investigating the fault.

No suggestions for repair other than the nikon approved list on their website.

One other suggestion is to consider selling the damaged unit on ebay, as they can go for reasonable money.

Nick.

Be careful if you open up the case of a flash - the capacitors can pack a hefty punch!

Thanks for the advice....gonna have a try myself and then sell on ebay if I can't sell it

Vinegar is good for cleaning off dried battery goo,

Steve.

As Steve says, or diet coke works as well. Swab it if then use a nail file when the goo has gone. Finish off with water ( distiller if you can) then allow to dry before putting batteries in
