Just wondering if there are any slightly less heath robinson methods of attaching coloured gels to a speedlite other than velcro? Like, can you get a 'gel' holder?

Lumiquest do one, stobist wrote about here.

Personally, I am about to make a mount out of cardboard with slits on the side. Then cover it in black tape to make it look a lottle better.

I few people have bent clear plastic to hole them too. It depends what your after I guess. A cardboard one is cheap and does the job IMO.

velcro dots, about £2 a pack, wilko's. one either side of the flash, one either side of the gel. looks good, and works.

I made some "speedstraps", like the Honl ones but instead of £8 each they came in a pack of 6 (makes 3 straps) from the pound shop :D

Gaffa tape here aswell, Gaffa tape always looks pro and helps out in many situations, like applying to bridesmaids under-boob to stop boned dress digging in :)

Oww getting it off, surely?

If your not relying on sample/swatch pack size gels then I recommend cutting them in a similar way to this:

Template scribbled on a cutting mat in sharpie, Buchanan style

Insert in the thin slot in between the wide angle panel and bounce card.

No velcro, holder, gaffa :cuckoo: or any additional appendage or accoutrement needed. Works with Nikon, Canon, Jessops flashes etc.

Provided you score the fold line tight enough, not even a gale force wind could knock it out. In the sample image you can see small rectangular holes, these really help get a tighter fold on the thicker gels.

Doubling them up is a piece of piddle too, if needs be.

Damn, that's neat Tomas!

Not sure my 'pieces' are big enough to do that. I went for velcro in the end. :)

Brilliant Thomas! Thanks :)

Better than my cellophane sweet wrappers and elastic band  You can also use any other diffuser like a Stofen or Lumiquest. Gonna do that  Cheers!

I'm an avid bluetack user myself!!
