Yes
Hi,

Has anyone used them and are they any good?

Ta,

John

Yes, but they have an odd VAT policy.

Reliable sellers, but certainly not the cheapest.

Odd, VAT.... ahh.. I didn't spot excludes VAT, damn I thought I'd found a bargain!

Thanks though

On the list it says excludes VAT.

VAT is an odd one as most 2nd user set ups work on margin VAT which is usually inclusive in the price as it cannot be claimed back by any other VAT registered business as far as I'm aware....I could be wrong though!

I'm happy to use Fixation for repairs... In fact I have and they are great, but generally their used gear has had a life.

Found out today that Fixation do charge VAT on second user goods. Bit weird as a lot of their gear they are selling on behalf of customers who would not be VAT registered?

Bizarre....can't say I had the greatest experience with them over the last week...

Well I emailed about a camera on there but they've not got back yet, which is odd given I would have thought they'd want the sale - guess not!

LOL took 4 days to come back with an email response. Then I had to call them twice and couldn't get through...

I asked them to call me back and told them I would be driving between 5pm and 6pm so wouldn't be available to answer the phone at that time....so they called me at 5.45pm!

They confirmed they do charge VAT even though they are selling on commission for a customer and they had 3 of the item I wanted...but surprise, surprise only had the most expensive one left....even though all 3 were on the updated list when I first emailed on the 26th!

Bit reluctant to try them again...but knowing me I will!!!!

my advice is buying used if its nikon or canon use MPB , otherwise look at mifsuds, camtech, ffordes, or T4 etc

I've used fixation a lot for repairs and swensor cleaning but they arent the cheapest for used gear

Well, they never did respond to my email, not that it would have mattered as I bought from the best place in the end - here :D

I just looked up margin vat and its a interesting looking thing, only paying VAT on the profit.

So in all they're listing a low price to draw people in then using VAT as an excuse to bump the price back up to where they want it - then annoying the hell out of a business buyer who suddenly finds out they can't claim it back.

If that's the case in the longer term they will loose custom.

I wasn't sure how they can charge vat if selling on commision basis? Surely the vat would only be applicable to their fee as they haven't actually bought the item to sell?

haha, they just got back to me this morning - I hope their repairs are quicker!

So did you purchase then John? ;)

lol, no I got a minty one from a user here :)

well they certainly see a fair bit of shooter traffic coming through their doors and you could say they not only get to know their customers but equally their customers' gear too. second hand prices are perhaps not as competitive as some of the other second hand sources but they'll have done a good job of scrubbing it up before placing it on the shelf. customer service though is a joy
