Yes
I've just had a chat with the main guy in my local camera shop and his words were that Nikon are releasing FIVE SLRs in 2008! One was the D60; so the year sounds interesting!

He also seems to think Nikon WILL make an annoucement on either Monday or Tuesday; quite likely a D700! Canon are also making an announcement but he didn't say when.

From reading about a Nikon D700 is going to be annouced on 30th June.
Hope its not the same rubbish talk that was the 5d MkII rumour !!!!

sb-900 is rumoured too... maybe the fifth thing isn't actually a camera?

Are you sure it was five DSLRs? It could be all compacts, even though the D80 could use a successor.

Yes, he said five SLRs! My ears popped out when he said it! :lol:

I agree with Alexisonfire. So what's the fifth; surely not another D3 variant??

I believe there was a variant of the D3 called the D3P released a while ago! It is supposed to be released for press users with a few bits and pieces removed!

I can't recall where I read about this, but I am sure it was a reliable source :shrug:

I'm sure I would believe anything announced on April 1st.

i have used canon sold it all now tempted to go Nikon, its crazy how things go "obsolete" so fast now

Its crazy when folks think what they own is obsolete when it will still takes great pictures. Madness that folks feel the need to "upgrade" when even a 6 year old Nikon D100 still takes great shots, and is why better than many peoples capabilities.

Shame its all so "disposable" nowadays.

I agree Andy.. Don't get me wrong I would love a spanking new d300 but tbh I am happy with images from my d200. It does all I can ask for and more..ok it doesn't have live view and the high iso performance isn't great but for what I do its superb! I would rather invest in other equipment lenses etc and when I am struggling to get the shots I need or feel a new body will take my photograpghy up a notch maybe then I will consider a change.:naughty:
I'm not one for keeping up with the "Jones's" so unless I win the lottery will hang on to my trusty obsolete d200..:D

Are you guys serious? Please tell me that you lot are the ones pulling one on me, and not that I was daft enough to believe there was a D3P!!??!!

Come on, there must have been a D3P at one stage.

Anyone here from the press world who can save me the embarrassment of this ... please!?!?

Rumours are:

D3x (Full upgrade with a high megapixel count)

D3h (D3 full frame, high FPS and relatively low megapixel count) Based on the last two professional grade Nikon series (the D1 and the D2 series)

D700 (D3 full-frame sensor in D300 body)

D90 (D300 sensor is going to be put in D90) upgrade from the D80
14 bit A/D conversion (compared to 12 bit currently);
live view;
the EXPEED image processor;
self-cleaning sensor;
3″ LCD (up from 2.5″) with higher resolution; and/or
5 fps (up from 3);

D60x (upgrade to D60)

5 new DSLR's seem alot of cameras from one camera company in one year !

Paul

This guy seemed to think the D60 (non-X) is one of the five, ie one down, four to go.
