Only just been able to have a go at using the flash off camera.( I had a look at the strobist site and will keep using it)
My problem, I can get the flash to work on board but when I put the RF 602tx, if I push he button it flashes, but when I try to use the camera it will not work. I have tried various settings, any guidance to what I have doing wrong greatly appreciated.

btw.. I am using a canon 10D

Hi all
I got my flashgun today, have absolutely no idea where to start:bang:. Looking for a quick guide on how to set the camera up for a straight forward portrait just so I start from a good point.:D

I also have the softbox and triggers ( still in box) but have put the flashgun onto the camera for ease

thank you

As mastertrinity says, take a look at Strobist which covers just about all there is to cover with lighting and off camera flash.

There is a lot that can be learnt, but don't be intimidated. Find something to take pictures of (it doesn't have to be a person) and try different settings on the flash and camera to see what works for you and what doesn't. You'll find you quickly get an idea of what works and what doesn't.

Then there is this here forum, which is a mine of information and people who are far cleverer than I when it comes to lights and how to use them.

thanks for quick replies will take a look at strobist.

ok, stupid question here.

when the flash is connected to your receiver, are you putting the transmitter on the hotshoe of your 10d ?

Yes I am and in that order, and then turn on receiver, followed by the camera.

in that case i'm out of ideas :(

thanks anyway, think I may stick the flash in the corner and try again tomorrow, go to bed and flick through the manual

will the flashgun fire if you press the test button on the Tx (camera part)?
if not
are they both on the same channel?

Hi david
Yes it works on the test button.

I went away came back change the battries, and it's started to work:bonk:
Will give it another go tomorrow. thanks for your help. I sure I be back for some direction

Cheers
Ken

kk if it works on test then the issue is cam to reciever...... tried reseating the tx to make sure its not put on wrong so won't touch the right pins, or did it have shipping plastic on it?
