No
bought my daughter one of these as part of her birthay pressie.
Was impressed with the fact that you can link it to your mobile and get on screen details when you get
a text or call, so thinking of getting one for work i stead of a watch so l can see you is calling when the
phone rings, we don't have that technology in the vans and l get fedup with stopping to dig the phone out.
Problem she is having is it works with messages but just comes up "unknown" for calls, is this normal,
she uses an S6

Not sure what phone you have, but some allow the callers name to be spoken when they call. easier than checking a watch, especially when you are driving.

On iOS it is called '‘Announce Calls'

Phone is normally out of sight, just about hear it ring, if the office are trying to reach me it's normally urgent, so l stop and check,
would save time if l see at a glance as l can in my car

Presumably they're not also coming up as unknown on the phone?

No and with messages the name shows,

Why not just use a phone mount so you can see it when it rings. If you don't want it stuck on the windscreen you can get a mount that utilises the CD slot in the stereo, if you have one.

Have you tried this Ingrid ?

For Android users, you need to

1) Go into your phone's settings

2) Select "Apps"

3) Select the Fitbit App

4) Find "Permissions"

5) Enable your Contacts (toggle over to the right)

Nope, firms vehicle and l prefer to have the phone with me rather then left in the van, in case l need it, as l did the other evening.

Thanks Brian, haven't got one yet but I'll pass that on to daughter, wouldn't that affect messaging too though, which
does show name ?

Don't know TBH , the only other thing I could find is make sure the firmware & app is fully up to date :)

I've got an android watch and having the info on your wrist is really useful :)

It's only there so you can see the screen at a glance when it rings. You are allowed to take it out again when you leave the vehicle.

I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt and remind you who I work for, ROYAL MAIL
This means I get in and out of the van on numerous occasion on a rural round, delivering to over 300 prpoerties.

Taking the phone in and out of a pocket everytime is what I am trying to avoid, well having to take it out at all if it's just a
spam call, hence thinking this might be a good idea, but it may be a waste of money, but then it's my money so not really
your concern

Not anyone's concern but your own then is it. Why waste our time in asking if you don't want the advice or a very simple solution.

To be fair, Ingrid has asked a question regarding the specific solution she has in mind.
She didn't ask for alternatives.

To be fair she's a miserable sod who doesn't like it when I come up with a solution to her problems.

Perhaps if you came up with a solution to the problem she asked about, you wouldn't come across as quite such a prat. Only perhaps though.;)

But you haven't, I can't find anywhere that you have told me how we can get the caller to display, I have just pointed out to you that for me your solution wouldn't work.
Someone with more knowledge (inttelligence) might be able to help, no reason for you to keep on in your Mr. Alwaysright attitude, if you don't like my miserable
disagreeing ways just ignore the thread (y)

I did she doesn't need a secondary device to tell her who is calling, when the actual device receiving the call does it for her. It really is that simple. She's just being obstinate/dim, you choose, in saying it doesn't suit her needs.

Hopefully if we can sort it out it will be good too, as she has just got it. I would assmue the downladed stuff is up to date (y)

Whatever CBA to reply to you any further, no point in it

Why does it matter to you what she needs or does not need?
Sometimes people do things because they want to.

Just seen this post after a few days on the beer and woken up without a headache :)
I don't know if this helps, I have a Fitbit Charge 2, When a text message comes through on my iPhone 5s the caller name and text is displayed on my Fitbit Charge 2 along with a vibration ( if selected in prefs) on your wrist to alert you. Caller name and text scroll from right to left on a single line. Couple of things I noticed about it is the message scrolls quite fast and if you are for example driving and turn your wrist to read the message then to me it is the equivalent of reading a text on your phone while driving, not so much as going through the motions of switching a mobile on pressing whatever buttons to get to the text BUT the actual reading the message, time that your eyes are distracted from the road. You only get to see the message once on your Fitbit once, miss the scroll by and you need to view it on your phone.device.

You could do a quick glance as if glancing at a proper wristwatch and if caller's name is displayed then you decide if you need to pull in somewhere and continue the call/text on your mobile,
Once the message has scrolled off the Fitbit you cannot retrieve it on your Fitbit (unless it is a option I've yet to discover), you need to do that on your phone/device.

Lastly, is seems the text message on the Fitbit Charge 2 only displays a xx amount of text characters, at least it does on mine, a 4 line text message on my iPhone 5s screen gets cut short on the Fitbit. As a postie I'm sure it would be good tracking the amount of steps a day you make.

As for Unkown Caller if the callers name is not in the Phones contact list then it will show Unknown just as a landline would

Hope that helps

Ingrid, Mrs Nod has a Pebble which tells her who is calling as well as telling her the first few words of a text. Hers is paired with an S6 edge and works very well most of the time. Occasionally loses contact with the phone but whether or not that's user error... ;) About £50 from Currys at the moment.

It doesn't matter to me but a civil answer is all that's required. Something which is beyond her in my case.

Just use a particular ringtone on your phone for the works number. Then you'll always know if it's work ringing.

Hope that helps

Brilliant thanks, not worried about texts. I ignore them anyway until I have time, just who is calling and a quick glance will be enough (y)

Hmmm curious, decided to get one and spent a very frustrating few days trying to get it to communicate with my S6,
about to give up and today on the train up to town they starting talking to each other , perhaps my threatening to throw it against a wall worked.
Seems my daughters did the same, wish she had said before I went out and got it :banghead:

Anyone thought about contacting the FitBit site for information??
