I am thinking about buying a cheapo fisheye lens for a bit of fun this summer.
Firstly, what do the designations .16x , .35x , .42x etc mean ?

Secondly, I understand that you need a wide angle lens for them to work. Is 50mm wide enough ?

Thanks

I'll watch this thread as I am also interested in the answer, but...

A fisheye lens it a lens within itself not a lens you add onto another lens unless you mean the cheapo adapters you get on ebay which are not highly regarded at all...

I am talking about the cheapo ones on Amazon which, as you say, are really only adaptors. Just for a bit of fun tbh

I'm pretty sure a fisheye is 15mm. My friend uses one of those adapters on her kit lens (18-55)

The results are okay for a bit of fun but nothing special.
