Hi all,

Purely out of curiosity I've been toying with the idea of my own photography website.

Nothing to do with making money (yet), just do distribute to friends, family or anyone else who's interested. I've got a flickr account but wanted something a bit sleeker and a bit more personal.

Not sure is this sort of thing can be done at low cost or even, dare I say it, free?

I've had a scout around and the web but without knowing where to start, even though I'm reasonably up on tech etc, it's a bit daunting.

Does anyone have a photography website and where is the best place to start?

Cheers,

Danny.

You might find more answers in another part of this forum.

I have set up a site recently and it is quite easy to do. It cost me about £80 all in for 3 years domain name ownership and webhosting. Don't think you can do it for free:shrug:

I use Zenfolio, it is really good. You can see my site in my signature.

Prices start at £25 a year, if you find you need more features you can upgrade, right up to a commercial site with orders being fulfilled on your behalf by labs etc.

You can have a free trial, see if it suits you, and if you want a membership give me a shout for a referral code, which will get you and me money back.

get yourself a one.com account and then setup a basic Wordpress site. nice n cheap nice n easy then as and when your knowledge or requirements expand, expand the site/hosting.

Have a look at Weebly!

Lovely looking sites:thumbs:

Although you might get better advice if you tell us exactly what you want from it.

Thanks for pointing me in that direction, had a feeling I'd be in the wrong section :bonk:

Cheers Mark, I've seen your site before and it's the bees knees, very slick.

£25 a year sounds really reasonable. I'm assuming that's the basic package but that'll be all I need. I'll be sure to give you a shout re the code.

Cheap and easy is exactly what I'm after, cheers, I'll have a look!

Thanks Phil, I'll check it out.

I'm purely an amateur (for the moment) so the intention is purely to set up a site so that when someone asks to see my photos I can direct them to somewhere other than good old flickr.

And there's the bonus of being able to say "Here's my website....." in a kinda Bigtime Charlie manner

grab a reliable web host and a domain name very cheap , upload wordpress very easy to do more then likley a good host will already have it there for you normally in fantastico section of the web hosting and upload wordpress simple to use
