In short it'e the settings you've used, what did you do settings wise? and also is this of bracketed shots or just one shot?

Not bad luke for a first go, one thing I would say is you have a halo all around the tree, it could possible have been caused by to much adjustment of the luminosity slider

It was taken from 5 images, all at different EV steps.

I will have another play with the image tommorow and see if I can sort the "halo" out.

I didnt go out looking to shoot HDR images, but the sky was so boring and the light was so poor I had to really.

I think the three listed are very subtle HDR and they work quite well, without looking to over processed.
