Ok so iv decided i want to try my hand at car photography. Do any of you have any tips and know any decent locations in and around Birmingham?

The kit i have are a Nikon D300s, 16-85, 55-200, sb-900 and nissin Di866.

Anywhere really, it's a case of driving around and seeing somewhere that takes your fancy.
 
It's the same as shooting anything really, see what other people have shot, angles, lighting etc and start from there!

Front 3/4 shot from down low is a good start and if you have one use a circular polariser.
 
I've been doing car photography a while and the main tips from me are:

Try as many different angles as possible.
Profile shots always work well on cars
Use a polarisor to remove glare and refelections on the lights and windscreen
Front 3/4 shots are the classic magsine shots and work well on all cars
and
Use a mini tripod for low angle shots which suit most cars
