Hi there iv been asked to do some portraits of the staff at the nursery where my wife works and just wanted to find out if there is a standard setup for the camera for this. Thanks

have got a canon 1100d and was going to use the standerd 18-55. or i have got a 35-80.

use the longest lens you have- ie 80, keep the aperture to 4 or 5.6 to blur the background, get the people in soft natural light if possible for in doors shots have a window behind you if poss to naturally light the subject - and talk to the subjects while you taking photo's get them being themselves - long gone are the days of saying cheese :)

ok nice one. i have a yongnuo 560 flash aswell but that will limit by shutter speed. or is 250 about right anyway.

Forget the flash, use the window light, and a reflector - this doesn't have to be a proper reflector, any white object will do.
