First time in studio

Hey guys and girls.
I have a photo shoot to do in a studio for the first time. I no my ISO has to be on 100 but would I take my flash as its quiet bright on there.
Any tips would be great. Thank you

Do you have access to the studio's lighting and backdrops, etc?

Will there be anyone from the studio there that can help you out?
 
Hi bri. There will be someone there to set the lightening and backdrops up for me but I won't see anyone on the day as the man who runs it is out of the country for a month.
There's a woman who I have to phone the day before and she's going to run through everything with me.
 
Why ISO100 ? Your not restricted / limited to using 100 and you may even need to push it depending on kit etc . Ideally you could do with somebody with you who knows about using studio lighting . If you've never used studio lights and modifiers before , it can be a little bit daunting what to do .
 
There won't be anyone there on the day (so they said) but I have to ring the person involved and they are going to help over the phone as they are out of the country d
 
Not too sure how good a telephone conversation can help . Have a look on YouTube for some basics to get you in the ball park . You'll then have to use trial and error . If you can get your hands on a flash meter that would also help you somewhat .
 
Ok , thanks. I will see if I can lend a flash meter and invest in one at a later date.
I will do as you suggested and look on you tube for a a few videos to help me. Thank you again

What is the brief for the shoot, and what is the maximum amount equipment available to you?

If you can answer these questions, plus a couple more, you can get all the information you need to complete the shoot successfully..

I'm just learning how to use studios in my evening class and we've been told to keep everything at ISO 100 as the flash heads are powerful enough to not need to go higher.

What situation would you want to use a higher ISO?

Not being awkward...just genuinely wanting to learn.

Depending on kit / modifier etc you may need to push ISO . I've had to shoot at over 100 a couple of times .
