That's all i know about it...and its from a large online marketplace [NOT ebay]

Other than that i'll be paying more for either an EOS400D body and the IS 18-55mm lens, or a D60 with kit lens...not sure which is best for a beginner.

The D80 is an excellent camera, and at that price it's not a bad buy tbh... Have you felt the cameras, does the D80 sit right in your hands?

Have you also factored costs of lenses into the £370 price?

Just some thoughts... and welcome to the forum :D

well i've budgeted about £450-500 for the lot, so i would just get the Nikkor 18-55 lens with it..bringing it to the same price as the other two but for a theoretically better camera.

Im a complete beginner so neither of the Canons or Nikons ive felt really jumped out at me over the other. I could live with either one

Before you buy one, go to a shop and hold them all if possible.

Remember if you are going to be holding it for several hours comfort is important.

All of the cameras can take photographs, it is you that will make them great.

Wise words indeed Psifox:thumbs:

Get out there and see how they feel in your hands, once you have tried them it may point you in another direction

SO i went and had a long chat with a guy in Jessops today and had a play with a few different models.....and the EOS400 it is. Now for lenses....for complete beginner use:

Either the 18-55mm IS lens, the 28-105mm USM lens or the local camera shop has a used 28-135 IS USM lens for £30 more than those two. I will be mostly playing around....night photography, landscapes, motorsport pictures etc.

Blast I meant you to come to the Dark side with Nikon.

Ah well enjoy your purchase:)

How much for the 18-55 IS lens? Only ask because for not much more you could get a sigma 18-50 F/2.8 which is a great and fast lens.

£160 for the 18-55
£170 for the 28-105
£200 for the 28-135

you'll get the 18-50 F/2.8 for about £200 if you look.
