First Studio Head

Anyone used one of these?

i'm considering it as my first strobe so was hoping for some opinions on its suitability.
Godox sell thousands of lights, many of them branded by resellers. So it'll probably work great and be reliable.

However, you aren't getting a proper warranty, so if something does go wrong, you're stuffed.

A few £ more gets you a similar but improved product from Lencarta with a long warranty and proper customer support, you pays your money, you takes your choice.

It's actually a really nice little light, assuming you get a good unit (cheap Asian brands tend to have terrible Quality Assurance) it's really no different in practical terms from buying a Bowens 200, Elinchrom D-lite 2 etc.

The only complaint I recall is the power adjustment range is fairly limited (the more expensive DS300 has an extra stop), I bought mine second hand and paid something like £30 which left me with little to complain about. As your first studio head I think it's probably the best cheapest choice you could make but I'm sure it used to be closer to £60 than £80.

I'm with Phil V on this, I'd recommend paying a small premium for the peace of mind buying from Lencarta will give you as well as the excellent advice and customer service you'll get.
