first shots with exension tubes

just got some cheap extension tubes from amazon.
these are my first attempts.

please feel free to comment as i`m learning so any tips would be great.

oh by the way i can only adjust the shutter speed as these are very cheap tubes.

Not a bad starting point but no match for dedicated macro lens.

Press the red triangle on the right hand-side where your user name is and ask a mod.

You've done well with the shot its nice and sharp with loads of detail - the cheap tubes are a pain to use as you lose aperture control as you know.
 
I think you've done pretty well with that shot and the set-up you have. I also bought some cheapo tubes and can't adjust the aperture BUT made some small plastic wedges to manually adjust the iris closure. Use the wedge to close the iris just like the camera would do.

Metering becomes a total guess but you soon get the hang of guestimating what shutter speed you need and making adjustments from the histogram data.
