Shot my first roll of film with my new minolta srt - LOVE IT

I wound the film back into the canister and removed from the camera without any problems but am a little worried that all the film has gone into the canister with none hanging out...

Is this normal?
I just wanted to know before i send it off to get it developed,

leading on nicely to my second question... where can i get ilford FP4 developed? ( Believe it's a different technique to boots or asda as it is black and white and uses different chemicals?)

Thanks for the help in advance!

Jason

Ilford HP5 400 is the film, wrong cardboard box.

Pro lab only, no highstreet minilab will touch it (any that say they will will send it off) as it's proper B&W film. Get some XP2 next time, then you can get it processed anywhere. (plus it's anicer film!)

And yes it should all go back inside the canister, it only has abit sticking out when you buy it so you can thread it into the camera.

Don't worry about the film disappearing into the canister, it's normal.

As for getting your HP5 processed.

On the High St the likes of Jessops and Snappy Snaps will process them, some Snappy Snap branches will send them away and some will develop in-house. Also some proper photographic stores will process for you.

Most folk on here either process at home or have their favoured postal service, like Peak Imaging, Club 35, I sent my last lot off to The Darkroom in Cheltenham and was impressed by the service.

Getting black and white developed isn't cheap unfortunately.

The Fuji lab in Burnley will do develop and scan (their scans are really nice) for £8.50 - http://www.photofilmprocessing.co.uk/blackandwhitefilm.html - I've only used them for colour but I was very happy with the results.

And the leader (that bit that hangs out when you load the film) doesn't need to be hanging out when you wind it back in.

brilliant, i did have the intention of waiting to develop it myself at college but im too excited and want to see what they look like NOW!
So i think i might take it to my local jessops and ask them to develop it for me,
what price should i expect?
Is there any chance they can royally ruin my first precious roll of film! Probably would bring a 20year old lad to sobbing tears!

I would trust Jessops more than anyone else on the high street. At least in Liverpool. They give you a roll of film back as well! Result!
