Just got back from a trip to Northumberland and thought i'd share my experiences with my recently acquired 70-200 mkII.

Gotta say i love this lens, and though the combo of this and my 1D3 is blooming heavy it sure is worth the weight given the images it produces.

Af is lightening, images are super sharp and the added bonus of the weather sealing just makes this combo a winner for me.

:)

Been using mine a lot and my 135 f2l is collecting dust.. but havent had a low light indoor event to do yet so not getting rid of mine until I have used the 70-200 in all enviroments.

The bokeh is superb, definitely not much different than a 135 f2 (coming from someone who has never owned one) lol.

How do you find the weight of the lens?

Must admit, I know deep down I want 2.8, and that f4 is a compromise and if I got one I would also get the 200mm f2.8 to compliment it!

Those pics are making me really want the 70-200 2.8 though!

Hi Nick

I'll admit the wight of the lens is a hell of a lot more than the lens it replaced (135L) but like I say its worth it for the prime like image quality and versatility of the zoom.

Also it works superbly well with the 1.4X TC giving even more flexibility

The vignetting is added in PP :D

hmm thats worrying then.. I am very happy with my lens but with the 1.4 its poor.. hmmm maybe the 1.4 at fault.

I've heard Canon lenses are good at this job!!! Lol.

On a serious note, those images look fantastic!!!

Cracking pics from a cracking lens.

It's the old micro-adjustment thing again Tony. I found a bit of tweaking made a world of difference when using the extender on my old 70-200. The new one doesn't need it, but worth a go in your case.

And note that you can configure different micro-adjustment settings for the lens with and without convertor :)

You must adjust for both as has been discussed on here many times.
