First prime lens for Canon

I was in jessops on Saturday in Edinburgh and had a look at the two Canon lenses! The 1.4 seemed good...optically the 1.8 looks good but I struggled with the build quality. Plastic mounts especially worrying.

They have to order sigma in if I want to have a look at one which is annoying. Just want get my mitts on it and have a bash.

Craig;

Have a look at Samyang 35mm f/1.4 manual focus (Canon EOS) fit, cheap to buy and beautiful results with lovely build quality, I've had mine from new around 6/7 months, a great lens!

Sorry they're all floral images....

New to a 60D so getting a nifty fifty.

What's the harm in that!! ;)

I have the sigma and its a great lens although I don't use it much anymore 50mm is a strange focus length on a crop sensor

I got a Canon 50 1.4 on friday and have been blown away by it. The difference between my 1.4 and my 1.8 is massive. I'm looking forward to getting a 35 f2 and an 85 1.8 as my next two lenses, if they're anywhere near as good then I think my collection will be complete (for a while at least).

Ive had the Sigma and the canon 1.4 and im unfortunate to say my copy of the canon was far superior to that of the sigma by a long long shot.

Must say I couldn't be happier with the Sigma played about with my mates Canon and his friends Sigma and stumped for Sigma. And am very happy. Bit larger but that doesn't bother me. Thanks for all the help everyone.
