Hey everyone :D
I'm currently doing a BTEC in Photography I've just finished my first year, one more to go. I've joined this site as its looks like a great place to get help, info, and also critique on images :)
I enjoy lanscape photography and animal photography the most. Although we're not allowed animals in our studio at college so I haven't had much practice at that!
I'm hoping to learn more about lighting in a studio, and using depth of feild :)
I have a sony a 200 with a macro lens.., which isn't also the best for landscapes :( I hope to get a better camera one day and a few more lenses.. but can't afford it at the moment. But any camera is better than non :)

Hi I am about to start a level 2 Btec, having just done a level 1 city and guilds
 
@jomantha, is that a one year course? Im doing level 3 at the moment,

I was just reading up about it, and read that :) :P
I think I always get confused as some lenses have "macro" written on them.. I need to get my head wrapped around lenses a bit more :P
It does seem to take better close ups though, I have used it too for landscapes in good lighting it does take nice ones but in lower lighting they tend to be of less quality
 
Yeah I have a tamron 70-300 that has a macro setting on it but its not true 1:1 size, although it doesn't do a bad job.

Macro is a very good style of photography that can really amaze you if done good.
 
Its a 1 year part time course.

Lenses get addictive.

I have
18-55, 55-200, both Nikon, 70-330 Tamron with Macro, which is about to go off for repair, a Raynox 250 (like a magnifying glass for lenses) for Macro work and have a 90mm Tamron on route, dedicated Macro, I used to think one body, one lens, hahahahahaha.
 
Ahh right.
wow so many lenses!
wish I could save up for a new camera.. but need to sort out driving lessons and i have a horse to look after :(
 
Hi. I'm a newbie on here. I have a 70 - 300 lens and find it does most things that I need. I think it's a pretty good 'all-rounder'. I am told you do lose picture quality with a zoom but it's negligible from my point of view compared with all the dust & stuff I seem to get when having to keep changing the lens.
 
Welcome. Glad I joined here a few days ago, and Im not the only newbie here :)
