Relatively new to photography and looking to get into portrait photography.

I have been looking into courses and have seen first point photography seem to have good reviews.

Has anyone done there course or. An recommend maybe another good course. I live near Aberdeen so would prefer one in Scotland if at all possible.

Thanks in advance.

I did a 5 day portfolio building course a few years ago but they were then trading as Brooks Photography back in those days.

What is it you are interested in learning?

Thanks for the reply. I would like to learn portrait photography, I have used family and friends to practise but would now like some professional guidance.

The portrait modular of the course was OK but only covering the real basics. We did babies, youngster, families, then nude and glamour, all in two days. The course did give me a good grounding to studio work and lighting techniques but it wasn't anything really ground breaking, more like a production line. I'm sure you could find someone closer to Aberdeen to give you some professional guidance to portraiture and save on the airfare down to Bournemouth.

Hope this has been some help to you.

Not much help I know but if you find someone I would be interested in doing this too. I'm a bit south of Aberdeen but travel in everyday for work.

May make it more cost effective if there were 2 of us

I did go to them many years back when trading as Brooks photography, very good for the basics but by no means a full teach everything course (not that any short course could).

Look at local colleges that offer weekend photography courses. It might just be that they offer studio courses at a fair price, and done over a period of weekends. Advantage of it being a part time course, is you can apply to ILA to pay towards the course fee.
