Hello.

Im going to create a website in order to display my photos. I did do IT at college and I can create my own websites but ide like to just use a template to start with as its quicker and im hoping I can put a free site together as I won't be making money from the site and I really cannot afford to keep paying out for hosting (at this time in my life).

So, can anyone recommend any good website builders with free hosting?

Thanks

Free hosting usually means adverts splashed all over your design.

You can get a hosting package for a couple of pound a month & IMHO well worth that.

Also you might find yourself tied in to which templates you can use & what your design can look like.

your post is very contradictory... Your going to create a website, You ahve done IT at college, you state you can create your own website. Then you ask for a template and a website builder host?

what was the IT course...half a day? :)

your post suggests your relatively young.. if you go for a free website now wiht the website address... you will need to let everyone know the adress... in a couple of years when your IT training kicks in you will realise you need your own domain name... but too late you already built up a website on a rubbish free name.. at 6 quid for two years I would strongly suggest you get your own domain name..its too cheap for anyone to pass up...you can even point it at free hosting.. its easy.. even people who didnt do IT at college can manage it :)

Try Zenfolio..very east to use and customise..(trial period available but you will have to pay, though it's cheap)

I've worked in IT for 13 ish years, I couldn't tell you what a website cost to design and build. Just because someone knows computers doesn't make them a web expert kipax.

;)

Beav, if you need hosting let me know, I'll sort you out some space on one of my servers :)

Thanks dude. Im going to work on a wordpress site. Ive done one before but it wasn't a serious site and I had not enough data to put on the site as I was just playing about.

Thank you. Can you not buy a domain name for a one of price? Ide like to be able to work on the website via a website (front-end) because im currenetly on a volountry work placement so when I get some free time I can work on the site at work.

You need to host the domain for the site to be live (on the Internet).

Oki. I did get offered hosting from a fellow forum member (Ive known him for a fair while now, not through this forum). Ile download wordpress tonight on to my desktop. I could do with following some tutorials as I have no idea what to do with all the files when they are downloaded (I have downloaded wordpress before to have a quick look but I got put off. You wouldn't believe I did a 3 year IT course would you. The course was so rushed we had to touch a topic then move on. I used Dreamweaver to create a basic site using HTML/CSS.

No sorry, I tend to design my own as web design & SEO are my professions.

I can help you if you want as I've had to design a few templates in Wordpress.

I should have a go myself. All I need is four webpages. Home/Gallery/About/Contact. I wanted to be a web designer / find a trainee job. I was advised to do development instead because theres more need for a developer but the coding just ties my brain in a knot!
