Hello all,

I have had my 650D for a few weeks now, my first impression is that it is a much better camera than I am a photographer, I am taking some lousy shots, so all is well!

Best part is I am starting to learn. This forum helps loads and for this I thank you.

Having a day job, it's sometimes a bit difficult to get out and practice, but that's what the weekends are for!

I am a bit annoyed that the version of elements I have does not support the 650D RAW files. The next version does, but I am not spending £70 on it. I have spent enough for this month.

Hopefully, will be able to post a few shots in future, at the moment, no way :)

I too have learned a great deal from this forum. I check it every day and the people on here seem great.

The one mistake I made when I first got my camera was to upload nearly every photo I took to Flickr. I spent 2 hours yesterday going through all my uploads deleting photos that I just don't want on there (bad or repetitive ones) and PPing & uploading new ones from the last 6 months.

WOW, just realised how much I rambled on in that last post about nothing at all! Lol

I'm also very impressed with the 650D. I bought one for the wife a couple of weeks ago and I'm quite surprized how good the features are compared to my 60D. The touchscreen is a revelation, it's so receptive, and the high ISO capability is better than my 60D. I've got her a new 40mm f2.8 STM lens to go with it, mainly cause I want to have a play with the video options on it, and to stop her nicking my 35 f2 or 50 f1.4.

Don't forget, you can always use Canon's own software - DPP for your RAW work and then transfer it to Elements...

Good luck and enjoy your new camera

One thing I did when I first got started was to connect my camera to my laptop and take some shots. I played with DOF and focus points and by viewing each shot on the large screen I gained a much clearer understanding of what was going on.
