First home developed pics (thanks to you lot)

Well, after all my questions and queries which were answered tiresomely by the TP massive, I have some results to show.

HP5+ first ever home dev, ISO400, ID11 (think it was a bit warm so quite grainy)

Me setting up my kit to develop said film:

My kitchen door... (what can I say, I blew the film away to try the dev stage!)

And here are some from my second ever roll, home developed again, but I pushed the film to ISO800 (the film was HP5+ again)

Thanks for everyone's help - I love developing the film myself and hope to perfect my technique over time. next on the list is for m to get a tripod and some very slow B+W film to try.

Because they were scanned in at ASDA for 97p I was able to play with these a little bit (no noise reduction, just some slight adjustments to contrast and levels)

Well done Ped. I like the tones of the first picture, the one where you are setting up; good fun ain't it (though my wife tends to be of a different opinion)

For a film scanner, if you can find an old PC (or mac, G4 or earlier) there are some cracking bargains to be had on older SCSI interface film scanners, mine was £65 and gives a decent 8mp image, to be honest if I get it right the IQ for B&W images outdoes my Canon 20D. Proper enlarged prints look even better and if you can get a cheap enlarger and bits that is a whole new addictive section of photography (if you enjoyed the developing you will love the printing).

Tis very addictive though, and nice pics.

Cheers guys. I have just been given two rolls of Kodak Infrared film which I'll try this wekeend. I'll have to use it in the Liaca as my Olympus and Braun will be very hard to load in the dark! Typically I have just loaded the Laica with some more HP5+ though so I'll use that up this weekend!

Thanks for the comments guys. What would happen if I dev for too short a time or I use the dev at a slightly too LOW temperature, out of interest? Less contrast and grain?

dev for too short a time = Less contrast

dev at a slightly too LOW temperature = longer dev' time.

Great, thanks. Given the nature of the foggy woods it looks like push developing for more contrast was a good thing
