Hi

All, after getting my first ever canon dslr I decided to go out and take some pictures for the first time ever please note these pictures I took are also in manual mode which I'm guessing after listening to some youtube video's :).

Well anyhow the pictures are here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/91794761@N08/

What would you guys have done differently to me on these photo's as at this stage i'm only learning and would love your advice, also what I found was the pictures taken of the mill equipment I found quite dark at ISO levels 100 - 800, i had to use 1600 and that was still quite dark? how can I use ISO 100 - 400 and keep the light up would i need to slow the shutter speed down?

also note these haven't been photoshopped as I don't know how to use yet that :)

I am by no means an expert but perhaps do a google on Triangle of exposure, there is loads of useful stuff.

To retain iso on low light you'll need to either (or both) increase aperture, lower f number, or decrease shutter speed. Increasing apeture will decrease your depth of field.

Seeing as your subject isn't going anywhere you could just use a tripod and slow the shutter speed to retain the ISO and apeture. :)

P.S. like the weir shots.
