Hi folks!

I received my Digibase kit this morning and needed to pop into town to buy some bottles and a new thermometer so I chucked the mju (waterproof, it was ****ing down) in the bag loaded with Superia 400.

The development was a breeze! I was so happy with myself  I really was not expecting much hence the boring nature of the following photographs!

A couple of things tried their hardest to scupper me. I have no idea how to turn off the date stamp on this mju, and the weather truly was horrible and I was struggling to find ANYTHING interesting to photograph in colour. All in all though, I am pleased I managed to actually develop colour film

Thanks for looking/reading as always

There's something oddly captivating about the last photo.

Congrats on the first developed colour film, it's a great feeling.

Cheers :)

The last one is probably my favourite too.

Liking the guy practising his putting stroke in the bus stop.

Very good considering the rotten weather.

I've got a mju II manual PDF but it's sideways! There are two buttons on the right of the LCD window, the top one of these is the MODE button. Apparently, pressing this cycles through various date possibilities including no date. I had the same issue with an old mju 1, and all my wife's photos for several years had an incorrect date (11 years out, I think) until I figured out how to turn it off!

Well done on the colour processing, BTW and yes, that last pic is haunting!

Nick,
Great work there, I think that the first two shot are a little over exposed, but that could by my crappy screen, the last two are very good indeed, not just for there photographic content, but, for the quality of you,re development of colour and they are very representative of the situation.

Well done.

My mju 1 has no date function - is this the same one (the fixed lens f/3.5 model?). Just intrigued, unless it's a feature I missed.

Great results and encouraged that you say its a breeze as I want to give colour a go at some point. I don't shoot much colour so it's more to tick off the list and say I have done it really.

What were the things that tried to scupper you?

The weather tried to scupper me. The developing was easy!

As for temp. I half boiled the kettle, poured it into a washing up bowl with my bottles of stock solution. I put my fancy new digital thermometer in the developer bottle and waited for it to drop to 39 degrees. Then I took the developer bottle out of the bowl and put it on the work surface until it dropped to 38.5 then it was poured into the tank and the timer started for three and a quarter minutes. I tested the temp of the dev after the developing stage and it was still reading at 38 degrees.

The bleach, fix and stabiliser stages are not so critical afaik. I just made sure they were all over 35 degrees. I also washed after the bleach stage with water from the washing up bowl.

Thinking the same thing. Really really like it; not particularly sure why lol

Great results, much much better than mine - hence me forking out for a Jobo.

It was more of a case of getting as much red in the frame as possible to see if I could keep the colours accurate during the development. I'm sure the lady thought I was a bit mental as I ran past her on to the steps to get the shot!

Great work.

Colour processing still seems like a dark art to me.... I keep on wanting to try it but it scares me :)

I think the answer is that some mjus have a date function and some don't. It's probably not something we F&C folk really want (date in red on your nice photo!), so if you have one, use the mode button to turn it off. My wife's mju 1/Stylus had a date function and I didn't know how to turn it off, now I have hundreds of shots with the (wrong) date on them!
