Can Someone Please Help Me??
Im Looking To Buy My First DSLR And Was Wondering What Camera Would Be Best For??? :)

Thank You

I'm only a newbie and far from being in a position to offer much in the way of advice, but what sort of budget do you have and what sort or photography do you have in mind?

Hi I bought my first dslr a few months ago and i went for the cheapest range of Nikon which is d3000, the main question for me was d3000 or the cheapest canon, as i believe they are both excellent brands I got myself to a shop and fiddle around with them, so i ended up going for the nikon as i felt it was more balanced in my hands. Now theres is not a d3000 anymore, it was replaced by d3100, a bit more expensive but i believe more technologic. If you want or can afford it you could skip the entry level stuff and go for a more expensive model. I believe you wont regret it and probably you will feel the need to upgrade to a more expensive model later on, on the other hand for myself I am very happy with my choice but I am already thinking about something new. So I would say make your choice considering what would be the best deal in the long run, and obviously thinking about your budget at the present

Draw up a list of your requirements from the camera (MP etc) then trawl through reviews and spec sheets on manufacturers' sites and see which models meet your specs and budget. Once you have that shortlist, visit a retailer who stocks as many of them as possible and see which feels best in your hands. If possible, take a memory card and shoot a few test shots with the cameras and examine the results when you get home to see what you think of the results.

ive been looking at the Canon range and there meant to be good cameras, would just like the cheapest :) mainly landscapes or portraits, abit unsure at the moment [sorry]

thank you

I think the first question to address is what make would give me the best range of lenses and how much can I spend. As a guide I would have a look here.

The most common are Canon and Nikon, apart from anything else there is always good second hand lenses for either make whereas one might just struggle finding the same with other makes.

As for how good one camera is against another they are so closely matched the choice really comes down to seeing what suits by going into a camera shop and having hands on. Obviously price comes into the equation and sods law dictates as soon as you have bought one you see something better.
