Hi guys,

This is my first ever post (one of many hopefully). Cut to the chase, I own a nikon D5100 with the kit lens, 35mm prime and a rather big 70-300mm vr. As i have outgrown the shoulder bag that the girlfriend bought only last christmas (shhh!), i am now after a fully fledged backpack which, preferably, will accomodate my 17" laptop for when i go off on my travels. I'd prefer something that my kit can grow into so more space than less can only be a good thing.

So far the lowepro fastpack 350 seems to be the only competition for a (large) laptop/camera bag at a reasonable price... Can anyone think of any others that are worth a look at? im looking at around £100 but will push it that bit further for the right bag. Also while i think about it waterproof and a tripod mount would be very nice.

Thanks

Hi and welcome!
I have the FP 350 and it will take all that you mention and more.
However, it isn't waterproof, although it takes quite a lot to soak it! I bought a waterproof rucksack cover from ebay (5quid) and it does the job fine.
Also there is no tripod holder, but I put my lightweight (and short) tripod under the flap/straps on the rear, again does the job admirably.
I find it very comfortable on a long hike too.

Kata do a good range of backpacks. We own three between us so as you can imagine we're pleased with the build quality. Jacobs usually carry a good range of them although Amazon may work out cheaper.

Cheers guys.

The kata looks great and il be popping to jacobs with all my kit to have a browse before i put my hand in my pocket.

Thanks for your imput also Baz. Afraid i thought this was more suited to the equipment topic, this being the reason fora quick copy and paste.
