Hi!

I've got a group of friends who dirt jump(pedal bikes) who are just skilled at flying through the air!

Some of you might of seen two of my posts awhile back of when i was learning that area.

Now i would like to string together a small clip to show off there tricks so advice would be great!

Here's something i thrown together - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oaUHb1wAZeM

Same clip ran twice but second time slowed down, As you can see the quality is naff

Recorded at 1280 - 50f - then edited in sony vegas 10 with pre sets at best 720-20p

Recorded with a 7D 17-40L

Any tips and advice would be great as overall i have't got a clue working with video.

Sam, I've been playing around with Sony Vegas 11.. using 1080 50i footage and downsizing to 720 25fps. I've noticed something on my footage I've also spotted on yours. If you pause the footage in the normal speed section there's a triple-ghost image in the stills that's not visible when you pause the slow-motion footage. I'm glad I've seen this because I was wondering if it was an artifct of the camera or of the processing, after seeing your clip I'm certain it's the processing.

I've found the way to fix it (probably obvious to those that understand video, I'm still at the "what does this option do?" stage).. switching reduce interlace flicker to On, smart resample to On and changing the undersample to 0.5.. and the stills are now cleaner and look as crisp as the slow-mo footage - my test reel - the changed settings kick-in at 10 seconds, compare stills when paused before and after the settings change.

I think that's an improvement, if you compare stills on the first part of the film there's less ghosting.

Hopefully someone can explain why those setting improve things, otherwise it's more monkey-button pressing :D

I suspect it's manually dumping the unused frames before dropping from 50 to 25fps that improves things. The undersample being set at 0.5 forcing every other frame to be dropped.

Yeah its a start

Well that makes sense even if its wrong!

Think at the moment im more worried about the quality as it looks bad :s
