James, unless you have a very expensive set of filters you will always tend to get a colour cast, which is made worse as soon as you start to stack them!
Even the most expensive filters can be prone to colour casting!
If you shoot in RAW then it may be possible to rmove the colour cast with a white balance adjustment!
Failing that convert to BW!(y)

As above - RAW gives you more room for adjusting afterwards.

You can also set up your white balance beforehand but it's not always a constant.

What software is best for RAW processing?

What software is best for RAW processing?

I use Lightroom and this covers about 96% of my pp for the remaing 4% I use PSE,PSE will also do RAW.

You should have some free software that came with the camera that will allow basic RAW processing!

If not it's readily available from Nikon/Canon websites, there are also alternative free RAW processing software but I can't comment on them as I've never used them!

You can download a fully working 30 day trial version of Lightroom and PSE.
