First attempt with C-41 home developing

Waiting for the negs to dry!

They appear to be dryer .. quicker... than my BW negs - might try scan one after not too soon. #impatienceisa..

That's (part of) the effect of the stabiliser stage iirc.

Bear in mind that many labs often advertised 45 minute/1 hour processing, they wouldn't have been able to offer it if the drying took a long time.

I generally leave negs overnight to dry before scanning and/or putting into sleeves although I too found the colour negs dried quicker than b&w and actually scanned one film about 3 hours after deving.

Cheers Mel, has to be the only one I did'nt try. Have now ordered a pack.

Well, I've now done my first roll of c41, its hanging to dry as I type...
Things I've learned:

Using a new tank with a strange filling system is not a good idea when using a new developing method for the first time. Damn thing was slow fill, so next time I think I'll use my patterson tank.

Thats about it actually.

Well done Mads....good to see others having a go with C-41 using their b&w deving equipment.

Did you find keeping the temp stable very difficult?....perhaps you will have a colour cast to remove in pp?

I've really got to get on with some scanning etc to post up some more of my own results.

temp was a bit of a pig in some respects, had a sink full of warm-but-rapidly-cooling water, so, aside from the tank being daft, I've no doubt I'll be having to correct some shoddy developing once they're scanned.

glad you had fun.............nice to know i'm not alone with cursing at the temp control :D

I tried to use it as an excuse to get an automated setup, but I don't think the mrs was too convinced, given her reply
