First attempt at building website

One of the problems with wordpress and most other web creators is that they never seem to produce clean code - in particular your Editorial page has 135 vaidation errors and 22 validation warnings - one of the highest I've seen so far!

I'm not sure how you wanted it to display but it's a total mess in Opera with the pictures all piled up on one another all the way down the page.

In addition the top picture is repeated 3 times with your logo and navigation repeated twice about 1/10th the way down a very long page.

I also find the documentary page very annoying as every time the picture changes the scroll bar takes me back to the top so I cannot choose a picture from the thumbnails below.

And it has 54 validation errors and 1 warning.

I think if this is your first attempt at a website you have tried to be much too ambitious and it would have been much better to produce a much simpler site which could have been slowly expanded as you gained experience.

Definitely needs work.

Sorry to be so negative but correct coding is essential for cross browser interoperability and properly laid out pages are much better than packing as much as you can into the site.

WP is fine at w3c standards,

it's more than likely the theme he's used which is not compliant
 
Well I have to admit that I was not aware of the issues with Opera. I had tested in Firefox, IE, Chrome and Safari and even seamonkey.
 
Forget the problems with Opera - it looks as if it's correct now the pictures have cached.

Could be because I'm using a Dongle which is not too fast - usually it's not a problem - could be because the thumbnails are quite large for the size - and your validation errors have now also gone down to 32 and 1 warning - strange though - never had that before.

But the Documentary page problems remain the same 54 errors and 1 warning and trying to pick a picture from the bottom thumbnails is still almost impossible.

Extremely slow loading for me, waitied for the first page to load (about 10 mins) then couldn't be bothered to wait anymore. Think you need a more reliable UK host. I am using broadband.
