hi

this is my first attempt at any type of studio portraiture.
i have got a little room 10ft 6 by 7ft 4 and i am converting it into a little studio.
i bought a lastolite hilite and the lencarta 2 softbox kit.

this is my first attempt in using it all.
the walls a red and the ceiling is white at the mo but am going to paint it all a mid grey colour. can you tell in the pic there is a red colour cast?
also, in elements 5 where is the colour dropper thingy so i can adjust the background to make it a more uniform white as right hand side is a little grey.

its my mother in law, 9 month old daughter and my wife in the pic.

cheers for any thoughts or advice!

Think there is a red tinge to the photo, something you can correct in photoshop. I've never played with lights before so not the best to C&C, but I think its a crackin first attempt.

I think its a good photo for a first attempt, im like yourself just staring out and i would be happy if this was my first picture :) the only way is up my friend keep learning as they say and keep us posted ;)

its underexposed and a bit flat. turn your shutter speed down by a stop. you might also want to hide the childs nappy and get gran a bit further in.

watch out for the shadow on mums face caused by baby

Cheers guys. Not a bad first attempt. In my haste I didn't notice the nappy. Lol. And in hindsight is slightly underexposed but can only get better eh!
