I am covering Bristol Rugby at home to Newport Gwent Dragons. This is the real deal. Big game as Bristol’s scrum half has recently been selected for England so Getty et al will be in situ.

I understand it is a near 12,000 sell out. The biggest crowd I will have worked in front of yet. I have covered Bristol before but in low key pre season games and it amazed me as to how much stick the rugby crowd gave me, all in good humour though.

I have my new twin set of 1DS Mark IIn’s charged and ready to go with 300 F2.8 and a 24 – 70mm 2.8 for close up stuff, dependant on the ebb and flow of the game.

It has been a mad year; I came back from a spell of living over in Australia with the sole intention of emigrating. Suppose that is where it all started as sold my first images there. However, 9 months on I am doing this after a long summer of constructive sports photography, which has received excellent feedback from all parties, notably when I decided to shoot long prime. Recently had my first front cover which was nice.

Report and pictures to follow if people are interested.

To be honest, I am a normal bloke who absolutely loves taking pictures but well happy with how it is going.

I am a little nervous but I will give it 110% Diego time as I have set myself the goal of going full time pro by this next next year

Thanks.

Well I wish you good luck with it. " He who dares, wins"

Good Luck - and I look forward to seeing the results which I hope will be as stunning as ever as we've come to expect from your hands!!!

"110% Diego time" - I like it!

Good man - I'm glad to hear it's going well for you. I've been lurking around here for a few months and I'm glad top hear things have improved for you so significantly and quickly.

Thanks Peter. I appreciate the comment :) Hopefully all to do with karma. Had some rough old times but feeling very well at the moment.

Awesome Diego, well done :)

Good luck tonight Diego. Have you ever shot under floodlights before ? Better fire off some test shots first eh ?

Before turning Pro I suggest you master the art of taking shots of ducks - preferably whilst throwing bread. I don't think you'll get anywhere just being excellent at sports photography :D

Thanks Ray, have covered under floods before. 2.8, ISO 1600, custom WB. Sorted.

Good luck Diego - of course we want a full report and shots :cuckoo: ;)

Surely when you snuck into St Andrews to photograph Birmingham City last season is your biggest crowd to work in front of?

All the best for tonight, Pete:thumbs:

.....so invested in two Mark II n 's

Gissa job! :D

Excellent news Diego and thoroughly well deserved, your images are always excellent and it's good to see the hard work is being rewarded.

Don't worry about the crowd, rugby fans are pretty good natured, just blot them out and get on with the job, it will be a blast!

Let us know how you got on.

Good luck Diego. I look forward to seeing your pics.

Indeed, best of luck!

I know how you feel but given your past shots I'm sure you'll do fine. Just remember to stand infront of the Getty guys ;)

Thanks for the support all.

Reminds me why I surf here. None of that stuff like

'this lens sux man'

'yo, my canon is better than Nikon..blah blah blah'

We are all just oeople with a passion, not pixel peeping or taking god damned test shots at every ap to validate a lens.

Pete - Diego.

 How true mate. Sometimes those pixel peepers get a bit too much :D

We're all here to enjoy what we do.

Well I'll add my best wishes too and well deserved IMO

Just looked at your images... stunning.
Well done
