Firmware 50d

I've got a canon 50d with firmware 1.0.1 (i think that's the version), I was going to update this to the latest 1.0.9. My question is do I need to update the firmware versions in between or will 1.0.9 include these.

I would just update in one go, always done it that way and never had an issue

...or upgrade to the magic lantern firmware and get a few more extras, including video if you want it
