No
I realise I'm probably in a minority here but I hate the damn things.

Well... I don't suppose its fireworks that I hate, more likely the morons who think that November 5th starts sometime in mid September.

I took the dog for a walk onto the field yesterday - there is a bin for putting, 'waste', shall we say, into - right on the edge of the field. Now I can't imagine being so desperately bored that I need to blow apart a bin full of dog crap by dropping a lit firework into it. Such is the mentality of some people around here.

The dog is another story. There are fireworks going off everywhere tonight, and he won't leave my side. He won't even go outside in the garden to go to the toilet unless I go with him.

Roll on November bloody 6th. At least then the worst of it will be over. :bang:

If it's anything like it is round here, the fireworks will carry on until about Christmas - that's what happened last year!

No your not in the minority, bloody things should be banned and limited to public displays only. Our dogs are terrified, even after a sedative.

I like fireworks, but agree they should be limited to organised displays.

There is supposed to be a restriction on their sale and use, but it, like everything else Labour have initiated doesnt work!

its a PITA..
I agree that only organised displays should be allowed.

I like fireworks and I like setting off large ones :) I find small fireworks a bit of a chore ;)

Something satisfying about a nice bonfire and fireworks fulfil a similar purpose. Legislate and enforce against improper use but don't be killjoys for those of us that like our pyrotechnics.

I just don't see the point of them.

That said, I got hit by one when I was a kid. They really burn when they hit you. That was at an organised display, too. We didn't sue people in those days, though.

Retailers can only sell fireworks between 15th oct and 10th nov 26th and 31st dec. Also fireworks can be set of all year round between the hours of 7 and 11 - I know this from working in retail myself.

Frightened dogs is bad enough but you dont want to be at the side of a skittish horse, upturned hoof just a foot from your face in one hand, pick in the other, when some a*sehole thinks its clever to throw a banger in the yard!
I literally saw sparks fly from his hooves as he shot up in the air and Im lucky that it wasnt the last thing I ever did see too!!!

The cost of the the things alone is is sickening. My son is going to a family organised bash tomorrow, today he went and bought 2 rockets .... at £20 each :gag:
Ill just watch from the bedroom window thanks ... and think myself lucky I no longer have any animals to worry about!

going to an organised bash tomorrow but have had enough of the pointless rockets over the houses idiot chavs that populate the area. big doos and people doing family gigs are fine, but the kids round here aint

I like fireworks, but agree they should be limited to organised displays.

Yup I agree with this...cause far more damage than good in my opinion. If you want to play with pyrotechnics join a local Am.Dram. society doing Aladin as a panto :p

Fireworks can be fun - we used to make our own - much better bangs but didn't match the sound of these large display mortars. Yes they can be a pain, but the excitement of little children allowed to stop up late surely is something to treasure.

I love em, they don't seem to bother my dog either for some reason, she just goes to sleep as per normal!

Fireworks never grabbed me, even as a kid. I usually wangled the money for something else.

I love them too.
Don't condone the idiots, letting them off at all times 3 weeks before the official date.

Mine will be set off tonight, as we will be out at an official display tomorrow with a bit of luck.

Oh, and who started this early christmas thing? Its nearly as bad as the fireworks. :D

I don't like fireworks either, can't understand the excitement of standing in the frezzing cold watching loud bangs!

I like fireworks, but only to watch (someone elses). The only ones I've bought for the kids are a couple of sparklers.

We prefer to go to organised displays, which I think should be the only ones allowed to buy fireworks.

When I used to be a bus driver, it certainly wasn't any fun with kids throwing bangers at you...

I love fireworks. Pyro stuff has always appealed to me though :)

That said, I am dfirmly agains the sale of fireworks to the general public. They are basically explosives, only they are sold to anyone who wants them. THere are lesser expolsives out there that require a license to buy them!

Plus when I see some of the home displays I do wonder what the point is. OOoooh, a rocket. Oooooh a banger. Oooooh another rocket... 1 at a time is just no fun!

I say limit them to organised dispays only. If the scope of an 'organised display' was broadened it would also set up a bit of an opening for the small business fireworks display - rather than pay a small fortune to buy a few rockets at overly inflated prices (trust me, they are!) - pay someone to come round and put on a display for you :) Then you get a better display but still at home.

:agree:

Couldn't agree more
