Yes
This is probably just a sign of getting old, but it is the blooming bangers that does my head in. Took my dog out for her evening toilet, went out a bit earlier to get it over quick. Dog gets really terrified of the loud bangs, gave me a bit of a jump also. I am sure they were not that loud when I was a kid  .

I love the fireworks with the lovely colours and patterns, just the bangers are a noisy useless waste!

There, that is my moan :)

Oh and I did set off bangers as a kid, and always got shouted at by silly old farts. But now I am a silly old fart, it is my time to moan at those noisy little gits

 I guess it could be an age thing, BUT, they aren't the bangers of old. These days they are MUCH LOUDER :wideyed:
Crikey, I didn't even realise in my younger days that you weren't supposed to light bangers in your hand before throwing them. :giggle:
Apart from putting em in dog5h!t......they wouldn't stand up!

You're not the only one. I don't mind a good brilliant spray of sparks and such like associated with fireworks, but in the past half hour some wally has been letting off what sounded like a series of atomic bomb explosions very close by to my house. It's enough to startle me, mother and the cat. And it's not even officially Guy Fawkes night.
Mind you, I am forecasting low cloud and persistent drizzle all under a fresh southerly wind for here at Kentshire tomorrow evening so I suspect most of it'll be put back until Friday night, at a time when people would be celebrating the end of yet another working week.

My old GSD now sadly gone, used to love to sit in the garden and watch both fireworks and thunder storms.
She was fascinated.

Are they really louder? I reckon you're just more sensitive now on behalf of the dog.

Haven't seen or heard any fireworks at all, and none of the local shops seem to be selling them this year.

So it is not just me then, they really are getting louder :(

Firework night we do not see the cat all night, he wont even come out for his food :(

No chance our cat doing that it would have kittens if it did so, that would be an amazing event in itself as he is male and he has been done :p

I've said it before, I'll say it again, selling fireworks direct to the great unwashed needs to be stopped. So much simpler than trying to get everbody to be responsible with them. No chance of that.
So restrict it all to public displays, whether at schools, rugby/sport clubs, council run, whatever. A better display, a known time and a bit of a community mingle at the same time.

Now that gets my vote

Our old dog Bonnie grew up with my surround sound system and the likes of saving private Ryan, with the Rel Storm subwoofer rattling the ornaments etc.
She would sit on the decking watching the fireworks and seemed to enjoy it.
Our current dog Ben, well he absolutely hates fireworks and this time of year is a nightmare for him, and us!

our current dog(english toy/jrt cross) is the same, doesn't mind them at all.

I lost count of how many times I'd take her for her usual walk on Nov. 5th (and thereabouts), and get stopped by complete strangers wanting to "have a go" about my subjecting my poor dog to fireworks.

Bloomin advert tracker, just had an advert Fireworks for sale from Argos.

Impressive 29 piece selection box containing a variety of shot tubes, Roman candles, rockets, fountains, missile cake, catherine wheel, mines and large finale cakes. Spectators must be a distance of at least 8 metres. Only £99.99

Wow what a waste of money

I'd though the sale of bangers was long banned in the UK
I can still buy them, I use them for bird scaring on landfill as a back up to the birds if its p***ing down.
The "industrial grade" rockets are fun too, never hit a gull yet, I've made a few deaf though ... one day, one day :D

That's an outrageous price !

Not long back in with the dog, got her out quick. Some git set a firework off that went screaming over my head, scared the poor dog. The good thing is she sh*t herself, but that is what I wanted ( not scared but went to toilet) :)

But what sort of person will only buy one firework ? Possibly the unruly type :(

The point isn't that they'll buy one at that price, but that they'll spend a fortune buying many at that price.

Ahh well not to worry, at least for another year that is ;)

It's Friday!
What's the betting the loudest ones are yet ti come?

I don't think they will ever be banned for the general public sadly - not just for the sake of pets but also farm animals and those suffering from PTSD, although it seems bizarre considering the hoops I need to go through to legally get my hands on some black powder without the added colours.

I really see no reason why their size can't be restricted, however. When I was a youngster in the seventies and eighties the fireworks in selection boxes were much smaller and none of them went bang. For that, you had to buy specific bangers, and certainly where I lived in Birmingham they were few and far between and frowned upon, and definitely quieter than the modern version

Surely restricting the size / noise would be a relatively simple piece of legislation?

They do seem to be getting louder year on year don't they?
Its as though one maker is trying to out do another!

Are Brocks still going?

Are Brocks still going?
I know there have been a few culls round and about, but I think by and large they are still viable as a species
:D

Saw some rockets yesterday from my kitchen window, the colours and the way they sprayed out was lovely, but why on earth do the need to go BANG ? Prefer the visual rather than the audible :)

Precisely! They didn't go bang when I was a youngster (I suddenly feel I need a flat cap and pipe!).

Blooming noisy fireworks have just started again, little gits :punch::punch:

Should have said, What its Her fault she wanted to come out I hate fireworks, but she makes me do it every year.......then look at dog and say.... yes its your fault we are out..........you any your firework displays, O she loves a good display...They will think you have lost the plot.....:D

My westie went after a gang of lads chucking bangers in Liverpool, she was not happy, they all ran for their lives....from the snarling westie.....you could not light up a sparkler around her or she would bite you...it was personal with her..looking out of the window growling at the reds and green in the sky..I kept away from her on the 5th but still needed to wee so out she would want to go for a pee and a snarl:confused:....Dont have her anymore...:(

I would imagine it will be bad tonight and tomorrow. The public display we are going to is tomorrow.

Yup - they are off again tonight :(

Sorry for dog and cat owners and humans who are unhappy with them

Oh I wish she were still here tonight just si I could use that.
Brilliant!

Sorry your girl's not still around too :(

It wasn't even dark when they "kicked off" here tonight!
