I have a problem that has appeared with the advent of Firefox V29.1.

About 20% of the times I try to open my Firefox browser I get :-
"Firefox is already running, but is not responding" message.

Where it is running is not apparent and did not start from my command.

On opening Task Mgr. Firefox exe. is shown to be running and shutting it down does permit the browser to be then opened in the usual way.
I have tried disabling all my Add Ons ............... makes no difference.
Tried following the Mozilla advice (out of date since it recommends something that cannot be done in the current version)
It is no longer possible to roll back to the previous version since Mozilla no longer support that.

Running W7 64 bit Professional.

Anyone got any ideas, please (apart from using another browser :))

I've had some issues with firefox too, I managed to sort it out by switching on the GPU acceleration in its settings. I now use Chrome though it doesn't work with Flickr properly (when adding to other groups) so I then open up firefox just to do that bit.

Its a right pain in the bum mate.

do you hibernate your machine rather than shut it down?
No, Neil, I never hibernate it and sometimes the problem can occur when I have previously been trouble free using Firefox and have reopened the browser without having shut down my PC between times.

i mean switching if OFF

Thanks.
Just turned off hardware acceleration. See what happens.

It's been doing that for me for years now, on different machines. I just start the task manager and close Firefox down. Then start again.

That's what I have been doing, but getting sick of it.
