It's available now if you really want it (The final build)
http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/2.0/
It's still being distributed to mirrors I think, before it goes final and public.
However, be warned if you upgrade, there are a few issues.
The main one for me, is that Alt-S doesnt work anymore, and I use that to submit posts on these forums (and other vbulletin forums).
Firefox is now functioning fine for me
IE7 wont bleedin install though![]()
Ive been using FF for some time, is there any need to upgrade to v2... any major changes or benefits?
Id expect when FF2 is ready to roll out properly they would distribute it thru they built in updater.
IE7 requires Service Pack 2 and a legit copy of Windows XP. It won't install if you're missing either of those.
I upgraded to FF2 a few days ago.
First two things that struck me are the liquid stylee theme (eurgh) & individual close buttons for tabs (Opera // IE7 stylee). I prefer to have one close button, but a quick rummage in about:config revealed browser.tabs.closebuttons - change that to 3 and you're away again with one close button.
Theme and other minor differences aside, the new predictive search function is occasionally handy - and occasionally annoying.
I've had FF V.2 crash altogethor on me 3 times now - I can recall two crashes with previous versions over a six month period.
All in all it's quite different - but I don't necessarily like it.
