Some of you will have seen the pictures of the foal Elf I posted recently. Unfortunately she has become seriously ill and has been taken to an specialist equine vet practice in Newmarket where she is undergoing a series of tests. They believe it might be meningitis but so far the tests have proved inconclusive, earlier today the prognosis was not good and they were giving her just a few hours maximum to live but she's still with us so here's hoping.

She's a cracking little foal and she has definitely got the X-factor - there is something quite special about her.

Oh my :( I hope she is still with you guys, and gets better pronto. I have everything crossed for the little one.
 
Thanks for all the kind thoughts, Jan and I really appreciate it. The good news is that Elf doesn't have meningitis but she is still very ill with what is believed to be a viral infection which has now gone to her lungs. She's had a couple of fits but she did go out in a small paddock at the vets this afternoon. They will be conducting more tests and monitoring her very closely over the next couple of days and hopefully we will have some good news soon.

Keep those fingers crossed! She's obviously a fighter but I think there is a long way to go yet.

Beautiful looking foal, really has a lovely face. Hope she recovers well.
 
Sorry, I just noticed this ... I pray that she makes a full recovery soon, she is a beautiful foal :(

Thanks Hypnotic, it's been a bit of an up and down week as far as Elf is concerned. On Monday evening she appeared to be doing well and was due to come home on Wednesday but on Tuesday she deteriorated rapidly and had to have emergency surgery on her hocks (the knee joint thingie on their back legs) due to an infection there, we still don't know what the cause is but she is now off the IV antibiotics and under observation for a few more days.

Fingers still crossed!
