Right, got my new iMac and loving it. Installed lightroom, moved over catalogue and was greeted (as expected!) by the photos all having the little missing file question mark. There seems to be no simple way of pointing lightroom at my server and letting it find all my photos, unless I have missed something. Also, when I point it at the photos it only gets rid of the question mark once I reboot lightroom. Any ideas?

In the IMPORT module click on 'Select a source' (top left). Other Source..... will bring up your computer's file browser. You should be able to point it at your server from there.

That unfortunately doesn't find missing files, just tries to bring in all of the old ones. Anyone know a quick way or am I stuck doing it the old fashioned way?

If your photos have stayed on your server can you not click Import and Add to bring them into your new Mac catalogue?

I just went through and added all of the missing folders. The files were on my server so I think that the problem was the was that the servers are contacted differs greatly between windows and the mac. Its all done anyhow!

Thinking about it, the problem was most likely with the file structure in LR on the pc. My server is a windows home server and the way it communicates with the pcs attached is slightly different to standard server/client so I think the mac just didn't understand where the files were.

You can just click on the question mark and locate the files on your server, it will usually locate files nearby too.

I know that but the problem was bigger than that. Still it's all fixed now.
