Any one know if there is any way to check on this.
We have a car here that atm is parked at an angle almost blocking the road, quite normal for it.
It's an old F reg vehicle and the number plate is partly obscured by something black on it
Without going to the police is there any way to check ?

There's been an untaxed unMOTd BMW around the corner for months. Apparently it's been reported to Plod and the DVLA but sod all's happened. Might have to report it myself since it's a PITA, taking up 2 parking spaces since it's parked so badly as well as being abandoned.

MOT history check or the vehicle check online will show whether there is current MOT or tax on it.

If it says vehicle not found ?

If it says vehicle not found ?
False plates?
Has it ever moved as far as you know? if not, It may have been dumped and possibly used in a crime?
Call the police and tell them justin case?

Call plod and ask them if a car fitting that description is of interest to them. Tell them it's a probable hazard to emergency vehicle access and the just might act sometime this week/month year.

Yes it moves frequently and is always badly parked (abandoned) I know who owns it, and elderly guy who has recently moved in, personally I
don't think either he or the car should be on the road nor do a few neighbours
But hey the thought of using an F reg 1.3 Maestro as a getaway car :D

If dvla are updating their records eg change of address then it might not appear. I think the mot history check isn't full and up to date yet either as my car is missing but there are records under the old private reg it was on.

Old people are just as devious and very good at lying as any other person. Do the right thing and report the vehicle. Perhaps give it a little push and see if it can fully block the road :)

I guess he could just slip by un noticed driving at a crawl?
:D

Hmm that's a point, they never did find all the great train robbers or the money did they?
I know the plan was to lie low for a bit, maybe he is just being extra cautious ?

:D

Or perhaps he is heading up a paedophile ring

No bad going in a few posts, he can't park, so
1) he's one of the great train robbery robbers
or
2) He's running a "ring"

Jeeze I hope you or I never get called for jury service :D

I can't speak for you, or can I? :), but for me that would be conflict of interest :p

Ok just crept out in the dark to get a phone pic so you can see what I mean about the number plate, well the bits I haven't painted out
and this is one of his better bits of parking, what you can't see are other cars parked opposite side of road, that white one will struggle to get out

One would hope a great train robber could get something a bit better ;)

As above, he's laying low for a bit, maybe "Old timers" has set in and he forgot where the money is?

PMSL I live here :p

But it is out on the open road? Sorry not being akward I just never understand that.
Looks like a dead end to me, so a few passing people may see it.
But as its on the internet it maybe viewed by 1000's looking to clone a plate. What better source of legal number plates, without leaving the comfort of your own home? ;)

Ok for my benefit really, don't want to show it in my picture, and you don't know where it is etc.
I always blank out number plates when I post car pictures, Chris will explain why

My car is on there so are a couple of my old ones, neither have current MOTs, scrapped probably

You do realise that there are thousands of registrations showing on sites like Autotrader? If someone wanted to clone a plate the odds are they would be able to get a clone in the same make, model and colour...

i honestly can't see anyone bothering to clone plates on a lump of poo like that or get tax ,m.o.t and insurance either ,planet earth please lads :help:

Totally agree, they were crap when they were new too :)
But this one is being used on the public highway so someone should bother with all of the above

Well if you don't report it and won't leave the vrn on for anyone else to report then who would read it and bother with it all  :)

Insurance check as well http://www.askmid.com/

Is your road the public highway or a private estate, because if private the police can do nothing regarding lack of insurance/tax/MOT while there (so I was told when I rented a property on a private road and a neighbour thought he had the right to totally obstruct access to the aforesaid property)

True enough but why make it even easier?

Well one comment that came out on my thread after I found my plates had been cloned was, they don't always clone the same make and model ;)
And in my case colour

My husband and I actually discussed Maestros recently as it's not a car you see anymore. There surely can't be many left but if there are they will be red, maybe the odd white one.

But many are with dealers so not taxed as such or insured, so cloning wouldn't necessarily make the car legal, people showing off their
much loved vehicle plates is a different matter

Insurance check as well (not sure of link)?

It's public where the vehicle is parked, we do have private parking but it's a bit out of the way for some ;)

Why would anyone else want to report it, you don't know where it is for a start
