Are there places that people find it easy to find meaning, and emotion in...

I tend to prefer industrial landscapes, because the decline and in some cases rejuvenation of industry is of a strange interest to me. Am I damned to drag myself round the country to wherever it remains visible?

The collesium. After 5 minutes walking around the outside on my first visit, realising what it had withstood for over 2000 years, and what actually went on inside it originally. I honestly felt in awe and it brought tears to my eyes. It truly is a magiacal and emotional place.

Too many tourists around to allow you to get decent photos these days though....

Walking out onto the turf at Anfield was a bit special too, and I'm a Gooner!

Definately with you on the urban decay, I come from a place which would terrify most people after 5 min, its the pits - and I like the contrast between my life then and my life now I suppose. I also feel a huge amount of guilt and sadness when I think of the people who still live there, and even more so, when I think of family members (mum, sisters) who are still living in pretty extreme poverty - the guilt kills me, and I feel like a selfish git at times - having my own place, having a nice car, not having to work unless I want to. The contrast is, my mum cant find a job and gets **** all money, my sister earns £5 an hour at Lidl, my other sister earns maybe £7 an hour breaking her back at the local nursing home, working for a bully.

Sorry I have ranted, but urban decay brings a huge emotional response from me.

Landscapes and scenery do too, I feel a real connection with mother nature looking at some of them!

I think its growing up surrounded by unemployed men who think of themselves as unimportant, ignoring the fact that they have paramedic training or a degree in mining engineering, cos they're "just a miner".

It really saddens me, and when I saw the pit gear in Hatfield start up again it brought a wee, hidden smile to my face.
