Yes
I think it's worth creating another meteorological-related heads up . . . but this time of a calmer and subtle nature.
It looks like there is a general agreement for the next two to four weeks showing a high-pressure trend over the UK. What'll that mean for the layman is that things are looking more settled and summer-like as from tomorrow and set to last right into the middle of July.
It may be possible that the rain some of you are getting at the moment will be the last of it for at least 21 days.
I can't see any 2003-style REAL hot heatwave stuff as yet, but at least history in the form of the past two awful summers won't get repeated. It'll feel pleasently warm with plenty of sunshine for at least the next fortnight.
Good news if you've booked a holiday leave off work over the next few weeks.
However, it's going to make my working situation rather knackering for me. Why? I work in a tomato greenhouse, don't I?!
And what are the chances of things turning freezing cold and tipping it down for most of the time when I'm off work for three weeks in August as part of my holiday leave? Pretty high I should imagine.
Still, if you have been thinking that we don't get summers any more, I wouldn't pack that suncream and parasol away not just yet.

weather finally broke today up here, ****ed it down all day :(

Make the most of it. Like I said in my thread, it could well be the last significant rainfall for at least three weeks. And that could apply to the whole of the UK.
There may be a few rouge showers about tomorrow but they will be very light and well scattered. Then the settled trend as mentioned in my thread begins on Friday.

what no rain for Wimbledon - are you mad?

Well that certainly is good news Ian. I've got a wedding on July 11th so if it can last at least until then I shall be most grateful.

I'll try my best. :D Long range forecast, at best, is really pretty much educated guesswork but there is very strong agreement between the six "super computers" (our very own Met Office's, America's GFS and NOAA, Europe's ECM and GEM and Japan's JPA) for this settled weather and that's something I rarely see.

Hence why I went ahead with this thread.

Especially when Wimbledon has that neat new removable roof fitted at vast cost. :D :D :D

EDIT: Kelack, you beat me to it.

 It's usually me who can't type fast enough

Getting stormy here in Vigo, really dark skies and quite breezy but so muggy

Cool  ( or should that be "hot"? :D)
keep us updated Ian you haven't let me down yet
(Unlike that "other Fish" :D)

Fingers crossed. I'm looking forward to a decent week at Fairford this year after the mudpit last year. Another happy week volunteering at the airshow with the RAF/USAF. Thanks for the info Ian.

Can't wait :woot:

Hard luck Flash :D its a gorgeous day / evening here

Finally . . . Summer gets a foot hold.

Summer has set in with it's usual severity.

Hi, back again.

Well, I'm now seeing the reason why I don't really like to dabble too much in "Long Range" forecasting (predicting the weather for 5 days and beyond) as there's so much that could go wrong with it.

And that's what appears to be happening as I type. This area of high pressure that was supposed to be bringing in this protracted period of fine, warm and settled weather to the whole of the UK is being plotted to stay well to the north of us. That will cause winds to come in from the east or north east . . . never a really warm direction at the best of times.
But the trend for things staying dry over the next fortnight is still there.
